Fall is almost hitting peak here in the Denver area and the colors are just spectacular. I love driving to and from work everyday and just enjoying those stunning shades of gold and red. This layered fall outfit was rather impromptu, was inspired by fall and based purely on a black tank top. I was getting ready for work last Friday and noticed that the shirt I was about to wear had a giant stain on it. So I decided to throw it in the wash and wear something else. Not really wanting to wear the pair of pants that I had originally set out, I dove into my closet and came up with this look.
There are a few things that I always like to buy for those “you never know when this will come in handy” times. I am wearing two of those things in this layered fall outfit: the red crop top cardigan and the print tights. This was actually the first time I wore those tights which I bought roughly three years ago (you never know moment at play). Whenever I see something that I like and know could come in handy, I will buy it. Sometimes a pair of tights, tank top, crop top, etc. will come in extremely handy when piecing together an outfit. If you like it, are unsure how to wear it, buy it. That is my biggest tip for you! It will probably be the piece that ties your whole outfit together further down the road.
Another thing that I like to keep in my closet are versatile necklace pieces like this one from Stella and Dot. Even though this piece is primarily gold toned, it has the crystals which look white/silver. This allows for it to tie in perfectly with my earrings and wedding ring.
Lastly, I have become OBSESSED with high waisted skirts this summer. They were never really my thing, but this year most of the stores I love have carried cute ones that actually look good on me! They are perfect for summer or fall/winter with the right type of tights.
