I love doing my nails, although I am more of a pedicure gal. The reason I don’t like doing my nails as much as my toes is because nail polish chips easily on my hands (I pick at them, wash dishes, type, do stuff around the house, AKA I am not very cautious). One day while browsing around Whole Foods, they had these big glass jars filled with nail polish from Mineral Fusion in several different colors. I looked at them and noticed they had some in white. White nail polish is one of those that is really hard to find in a richness that is actually ‘white’. I’ve purchased white nail polish before and it’s always ended up being translucent or just not stark white enough. I decided to give the Mineral Fusion white nail polish a try and I am so glad that that I did.
Why do I love Mineral Fusion Nail Polish?
I love it because it lasts longer than my other nail polishes and I love the richness of the colors. I found it unintentionally but I am happy I did.
How long does it last?
On its own
For me, Mineral Fusion nail polish, lasts about 3 days before it starts to chip. You might think this is so short but on average most nail polishes last on my hands 1 day so 3 is pretty good and that is why this brand caught my attention. To give you an idea, things that affect my nail polish are: washing dishes, washing my hair, picking at my nails (bad habit), grabbing things, scratching an itch (have you ever had an itchy on your leg and you are wearing jeggings? That will definitely mess with your nails polish!), cooking, cleaning, etc.
On my toes the nail polish will last about two weeks (unless I am going to the pool/beach where the sand and water can affect the duration of my nail polish).
With a top/base coat
I came across a really good nail polish top and base coat by Essie (it was a free sample from Ulta called ‘Take Care Mini Kit’ and contains their ‘First Base Base Coat’ and ‘Good to Go Top Coat’) that I decided to try. I had never really used a top and base coat before so I was pleasantly surprised with the results. On my hands it lasted about 5 days with the typical uses I mentioned above.
On my feet, it lasted almost a month! It was like I had a professional pedicure. I also want to mention that I went to Las Vegas where I danced a lot and went to the pool every day (so plenty of opportunity for it to chip and scuff).
Richness in color
This is my favorite part of this nail polish. I have two colors: ‘Marble’ (white) and ‘Lagoon’. ‘Marble’ (the white color) is the best white that I have purchased in a while. When you apply two coats, there are no visible streaks and it is a nice vibrant white. The ‘Lagoon’ color is the same way, it is a nice vibrant shade of teal.
There are two big cons for me on this product. The first is where you can find it. You can’t walk into just any store that sells nail polish. I have only seen it at Whole Foods and Ulta (on clearance). You can of course buy it online but sometimes you just want to walk into a store and buy it, LOL. The second con is variety of colors. Even though they now offer 61 shades, the shades that they do offer seem to be very similar (they have similar varieties of neutrals, reds, etc.). If they had more variety in colors, I would probably only own this brand of polish.
